Marketing selected the industry’s major trade show as the
occasion for their food/flavor ingredient client to host an original
press and customer event.
The
client is a newly merged organization, formed by bringing together
two well-known and established companies. Their collective resources
elevate the newly formed entity to a strong leadership position.
The objective of the event was to distinguish the new company as
one having substantial and reliable insights into the food trends
that drive food and beverage product success. To support this unique
capability, the agency sourced and hired a well-known industry expert
to evaluate how the client’s product development work reflected
the latest trends. The trends expert was also engaged as the guest
speaker for the event. Our venue was a trendy dessert bar in downtown
Chicago. Working together with our trends expert and the dessert
bar chef, we were able to design and create food products inspired
by the trends we were highlighting. Samples of these products were
served to our guests. It was an effective way of communicating and
demonstrating the company’s capabilities in an enjoyable way.
The
event was well received by both the press and customers who appreciated
the novel approach in promoting our client’s capabilities.
The
results were two-fold. We documented and edited the event into an
interactive DVD that is currently being used by our client for one-on-one
and group presentations with customers. The sales force reports
that the DVD is an effective tool that is being used with customers
addressing the range of food segments including the savory, dairy
and sweet markets.

We
also prepared a complete press kit on the event for the media, which
included press release, company profile and bios of key executives.
The event has been reported in both horizontal and vertical trade
publications in feature articles and industry reports.
